Winter break tempts one to fulfil ones ‚Summer dreams‘: an inflatable Kayak, which we fancied for some time already must be bought:
Not only is the Kayak a nice amusement in a bay but also helps to improve our sportive activities. – Next Summer may hopefully come soon.
But first we have to go through autumn and winter, – and this autumn respectively end of summer is quite demanding.
Already at the anchorage at Port Pollenca we faced some rather strong winds and now at the mainland of Spain as well. Thus we are quite happy being at our winter place at the Marina Roda de Bara. – Today wind gusts thunder around our ears with up to 50 knots (90 – 100 h/km); – that only literally spoken, as I wouldn’t dare bringing my ears to the outside with that much wind, unless by force….
Our mooring lines seem to be well anchored which is relaxing and also our lines ashore are well fixed.
Everything else on our boat is also well stored and – very important: water and wind tight. Unfortunately you can’t say that of all of the other boats. The marineros are quite busy by saving badly attached Biminis and sails which are getting unrolled by the gusts.
A trifle astonishing is the swell coming into the harbour, leading to more ‘rock and roll’ as assumed. But the bad weather shouldn’t be a continuous nuisance, and on all other days it’s very quiet. – Our final opinion for sure is only possible in spring.
Marina Ginesta, which is in the neighbourhood, is the home port of SY Titanium (Super Maramu) with James and Louise, whom we met beginning of the season on Mallorca.
But most certainly also in our harbour are nice people. For example the Swiss couple René and Heidi, with whom we already spent some time and even played Boccia at the beach.
Before we go for more excursions in the beautiful area, we fly for some days home to Switzerland.
See u soon.
