Isolated ground under control

Our mechanics don’t favor it too much, but we love it: as of now we not only have our 24 Volt system but also our 12 Volt system under control. The installation of that control unit was mainly necessary to make sure that our new engine is isolated correctly.

On April 5, back we go into the water.

Everything is well maintained, especially the very important bow thruster. We hope to be good now for some time.

Before sailing further away, we will do some proper tests for sure. Therefore the nice sailing area around Mallorca is perfect.

Nevertheless, some small things are still to be done. Inter alia, our new red Genaker is still not ready and some electrical cables need to be reviewed respectively corrected.

All in all, we won’t be off before beginning of May. Which isn’t too bad, because the weather should be more stable by then. At the moment the wind still is quite cold and unreliable. – Typical April weather.

I spent a wonderful ‚mother-daughter‘ weekend at the Viva Cala Mesquida Resort, which is in the north of Mallorca. The company was excellent:

Although the service and the area were very nice, I wouldn’t book the hotel again. Unfortunately it is a hotel specializing in ‘kids’. Naturally that wouldn’t be too bad, but the only hotel bar which was open in the evenings was also used as ‘kids-theater’ till almost 11 pm. A real conversation was almost impossible because of the noise. – Nevertheless, we made the best of it and enjoyed the weekend together.

To be prepared for the upcoming start into the sailing season, we fill the freshly cleaned bilges with provisions. Naturally, during the shopping tours the captain finds new tools and spare parts as well, so that the cupboards and drawers are filling up quite well.

Our highlight is the new ‚barbecue’:

The old one was already rather rusty and in danger to dissolve. Now the barbecue season can start.

See u soon!

  1. Happy sailing you two, good see you can set sail early May and we wish you safe sailing.
That machine you installed for easy meals is a BRAAI and not a BBQ, enjoy.
    With kind regards
